The Weight of a Full Moon

Some nights the moon is heavy, a silver stone set on the chest of the sky.

A full moon above a calm pastel sea

Some nights the moon is heavy,
a silver stone set on the chest of the sky,
and I carry it the way you carry
a name you are not allowed to say.

I have weighed it in my palms,
the ache, the light, the distance,
and found it weighs exactly
as much as everything I never told you.

Tonight I will put it down.
Tonight I will let the sky
hold what it was always holding,
and I will simply look.
